There are over 31,000,000 orphans according to 2023 studies in India. This doesn't even include those that are just left to fend for themselves or are undocumented. Out of all the documented orphans, there are less than 500,000 in actual care facilities. These are just the best estimates to date. There are many current complications in regards to orphan care in India due to the current political and religious atmosphere.
